Step 1: Obtaining Our Silk
The journey begins in a quaint little farm in South Korea. A family-run silk business oversees the intricate process of harvesting quality silk – from initial conceptualisation of the farm layout to provide optimal conditions for moths to mate, then nourishing the young caterpillar with mulberry leaves, to monitoring its moulting process, and finally expertly harvesting the cocoon of silk threads – and passes it on to a dedicated team of scientists in our biotech firm, FineCo Pte. Ltd..
Throughout its entire process, the business fundamentally adheres to its beliefs in sustainable and eco-friendly farming. They hold close to their heart that being at one with nature gives the utmost in harvest quality.
Step 2: Extracting Fibroin From Raw Silk
We first gently and expertly separate Fibroin from Silk. Arguably the most crucial step – if done harshly, the amino acids and peptides released are ineffective from skincare – this is done through an enzyme technology that re-arranges the three-dimensional structure of silk to extract Fibroin.
